Britten War RequiemWith University of Minnesota choirs and guests |
|
Kantorei partners with University of Minnesota ensembles, the Minnesota Boychoir, the Macalester Concert Choir, Quad City Choral Arts, and Hochschüle für Musik Detmold (Germany) in Benjamin Britten’s moving War Requiem. The work, scored for chorus, soloists, boys’ choir, organ and two orchestras, juxtaposes the traditional Latin requiem Mass with poetry by a British World War I soldier. The harmonic motifs, both resolved and unresolved, unify the 85-minute piece. Britten wrote of this music: “I hope it’ll make people think a bit.” For more information, visit the University of Minnesota School of Music site. |
