Auditions
Auditions for the 2007-2008 20th Anniversary Season will be held on May 21 and May 31 at Golden Valley Lutheran Church. Audition times will be available between 6:30pm and 9:00pm. Audition appointments can be made by contacting Sue Zemlin at or by calling 763-506-6791. The audition will consist of one prepared artsong (no pop or broadway music, please), tonal memory, and sight-singing. An accompanist will be provided at no charge.
Founded in 1988 by Artistic Director Axel Theimer, Kantorei performs a wide repertoire while specializing in music by Central and Western European Composers.
Programming for Kantorei is based on Dr. Theimer's strong background in music of Central Europe. Members and audiences enjoy exposure to many seldom-heard works from that region.
Kantorei is a repertory choir, retaining about half of its repertoire from season to season. Kantorei also frequently collaborates with instrumental ensembles including the Minnesota Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Chorale, Minnesota Sinfonia, and Amadeus Chamber Symphony.
Singers appreciate the extra attention that Dr. Theimer pays to the use and care of the voice, and comment on how their voices still feel fresh at the end of rehearsals and concerts.
Kantorei rehearses on Sunday evenings from 6:45 - 9:15 p.m. at Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, from September through May.
